Today, the pupils completed their Viking longship testing. This was the culmination of a series of lessons where the pupils planned, designed and constructed their Viking longships. During this process the pupils considered the structure of their design as well as the materials selected in terms of their individual properties i.e how waterproof the materials were as well as how strong and flexible the materials were. The pupils once their construction was completed tested their Viking longships, assessing buoyancy and strength. Each Viking longship was constructed superbly with each boat holding almost 1kg in extra weight. After the testing, learning was accrued with the pupils detailing adjustments that they would make if they had the opportunity to make their Viking longboats again.
