Shaduf Science Experiment
Today the pupils completed their topic on Egyptians. The class in their final lesson on the topic investigated how to make a Shaduf which was used by the Egyptians to transport water particularly from lower levels to higher levels. The Shadufs were then used to water crops and feed people during the Ancient Egyptian period. The pupils planned and constructed their Shadufs and then they tested their work. The class worked fantastically well and everyone successfully created a functioning Shaduf. The class discussed the importance of the forces necessary to operate a Shaduf and they also discussed the importance of the lever and the application of pressure on the lever in order to make the Shaduf function effectively. Attached are some photos of the fantastic work completed by the class.
