P4 Trip to Armagh Planetarium and Observatory
12th Mar 2025
On Tuesday, 11th March 2025, Primary 4 students embarked on an exciting and educational trip to the Armagh Planetarium and Observatory as part of their "World Around Us" topic on space. The children had the privilege of learning from the knowledgeable and engaging scientific facilitator, Nick, who made the experience both enjoyable and informative.
The pupils impressed Nick with their impressive understanding of stars, including their temperatures. Their knowledge was further enriched in the movie dome, where they learned about stars and constellations in a truly immersive environment.
One of the highlights of the visit was the STEM Rocket Experiment. The students designed and built bottle rockets, applying principles of aerodynamics. Using a combination of water and pressurized air, the rockets soared into the “green galaxy,” offering a thrilling and hands-on learning experience.
This trip was an invaluable opportunity for the children to explore their "World Around Us" topic beyond the classroom, deepening their understanding of space and science in a fun and interactive way.
