On March 1st Gabriela and Bozhidara welcomed the spring in a traditional Bulgarian manner. Martenitsa is a tradition of giving someone a bracelet or a badge which is red and white. This gesture means you are wishing them good luck for the year the ahead. You will wear the Martenitsa (bracelet/badge) until you see the first bird of spring and after 30 days you place it on a tree.
