Primary six and seven had a wonderful day at the 'Ulster American Folk Park' in Omagh. The boys and girls undertook the Famine tour which followed the story from our class novel 'Under the Hawthorn Tree' by Marita Conlon-McKenna. The children got to experience a small snippet of life from 'Famine Time Ireland' all the way through to the 'New World of America'. We got to meet many of the different characters from the book and had some first hand experience of the types of food which people would have eaten back then.
