Today, Elita and Ruairi came into our school to deliver a STEM based workshop. Elita works for MEGA; an engineering agency who attempt to link schools with the world of engineering providing insights into careers in this area. Ruairi works for Mallaghan Engineering; making numerous products for the aviation industry here in Mid Ulster. The pupils were educated on engineering through Ruairi’s PowerPoint before they were tasked with designing a transporting system for a fuel tanker by which fuel could be loaded to a lorry and transported around the country. The pupils engaged in the planning and design process before then constructing their designs. The final part of the workshop involved the pupils testing their creations. The pupils had fantastic fun and learnt so much throughout the workshop. A massive thank you goes to Elita, Ruairi, MEGA and Mallaghan’s Engineering.
