Saint Mary's Primary School, Aughnacloy

Global Learning Programme

22nd Nov 2016

We are proud and delighted to announce that St Mary’s Primary School Aughnacloy is now officially a Level Two Global Learning School.

What does this mean? I hear you ask; well essentially The Global Learning Programme is an initiative being run which is centred on education for a fair and sustainable world. In essence the programme aims to enable pupils to learn about the wider world. We have been involved in the programme for over a year now having entered into the second cohort of schools country wide taking part. A lot of work has went into achieving this award by the school from attending various courses and workshops associated with the programme, to evaluating the school in terms of what global based learning goes on and creating and implementing many different global learning based initiatives at a whole school level. The pupils have also been engaging in various Global Learning based work and thus this award could not have been achieved without all their excellent work.

Currently and indeed in the future we are aiming to continue the great work that goes on in our school in terms of Global Learning. In fact we already have many current Global Learning initiatives in place in the school and we also have many future goals and initiatives that we are hoping to introduce and achieve in order to keep our school a place where Global Learning is prominent and indeed valued by all. Thanks goes to our Global Learning Co-ordinator, Mrs McAleer for all his hard work and direction in this area.
